Level Achieved: Normal

Project: DragonFriend (DF)

Summary: Some final bits leading up to the final act of the story.

#NullaDiesSineLinea: But the Other-Side-of-the-Veil was sacrosanct, not to mention separated from the human world so that things couldn’t readily spill over. No one had ever been able to draw magic or anything else from beyond the Veil. It was not only almost blasphemous to suggest it could be Drained, but also an impossible feat.

And yet Hagan said it not only could be done, but actually WAS being done as they spoke.

“Hagan,” rumbled Firedrake, “it sounds like you have an idea of who is doing this.”

Editing: None.

SPECIAL: Well, that was… a thing. I do not feel that I did particularly well this year, but since it’s an even year, and bloody 2020 I suppose I am not surprised at my lack of focus and enthusiasm. (Purchasing Skyrim in the last week of November didn’t help either.) So now I know that I need to seriously focus on prep ahead of any month-long writing challenge like NaNo, because I do NOT fly well by the seat of my pants.

Project: Cat’s Cradle (CC)

Summary: Today was a little quieter than expected, but I ended up just wafting around the house chilling and then finally watching “An Unearthly Child” in honor of the 57th anniversary of the airing of Doctor Who.

Project: Second Unit Reviews (SUR)

Summary: I… needed a mental health day. I just could not bring myself to work on DF today, so I read today’s and next week’s books for my Obscure Books From Childhood blog series and wrote those. Yes, that means I’m behind, but I just needed a day to clean and read and even broke out Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic on my original Xbox because I just had a hankering for something familiar and I’ve actually never played through the game as a male (my two previous play-throughs were as a female) so this could be interesting. My male is named Nestor which means “returner, homecomer” in Greek… which I thought appropriate.

Project: DragonFriend (DF)

Summary: Continued the scene with Hagan and the pegasi. Had a good start this morning, but had to stop because errands. Got home and got distracted and thus did not get anything more done. So now I’m going to be about 2000 words behind again… but if I can’t catch up fully tomorrow, then I should be able to Thursday since I took Thursdays off work this month.

#NullaDiesSineLinea: When the mixture was ready and infused with magic, Hagan motioned Bright Star closer and smeared the potion on each hoof and hock. “That tickles!” snorted Bright Star as he tried not to dance in place.

Editing: None.

Project: DragonFriend (DF)

Summary: Last time I can import anything. All original draft scraps used up. I’m done. I’m just done. I’m normally not so done in the very first week of NaNoWriMo, but it’s election week during a pandemic and I’m just DONE. Encounter between Hagan and his soon-to-be mentor Wizard Durick.

#NullaDiesSineLinea:

“So,” said Durick, “Tell me the real reason you want to become a wizard.”

Hagan blinked. “Sir?”

“Come lad, did you really think I’d believe that cock and bull story you gave Mockrin about learning the mysteries of mystical energy?”

Project: SiS

Summary: A bit about what Karen does (break patterns) and getting chewed out by her editor.

#NullaDiesSineLinea: And that was how I got tossed headfirst out of the Editor’s office while he shouted obscenities at me in fifty different languages, a few of which I’m almost certain he made up on the spot.

Editing: None.

Project: Spells in Sepia (SiS)

Summary: Karen at the Demon Church. Would have written more, but rescued a cat and got hit by a deer so the evening is shot. Tomorrow I’ve got an 8am meeting, so that isn’t looking too good either.

#NullaDiesSineLinea: The whole place felt like one giant jump scare waiting to happen.

Editing: None.

Project: Spells in Sepia (SiS)

Summary: Still sick so laid around reading X-Files novels most of the day. Got a tiny bit written for an encounter between Karen and Blanche.

#NullaDiesSineLinea:

“So now that I’ve spilled my guts, you mind telling me who you’re hiding from?”

Blanche stiffened, although her face remained expressionless. But clearly I’d hit a nerve. “Powerful people,” she said shortly.

“Mundane or arcane?”

She turned her face away. “I’m… not sure anymore.”

“Well, that’s not cryptic or anything.”

Editing: None.
